First of all we here at D.A.F.A. would like to thank all of our members for participating in our club and supporting us with your generous comments. In this article we will show you one of the many good techniques to try when you already have a hang of processing. I'm sorry i could not get more done today but I'm quite busy with work and commissions but be sure that This club will not go down without a serous fight ahead. By hook or by crook i will continue to help out upcoming film photographers in dA. If you would like to help out our group you spread the word of ~

Lesson 1
vignetting [<--link](fadeing)
If you have ever seen an image with vignetted edges you know that this can be used as a great framing tool. in this lesson we will show you how to do just this. First of all if you have ever dodged and burned in your darkroom then you will already know how this works.
Method 1 (White borders)
step 1: the first thing to do in vignetting is to compose your image in the center od your easel. this is a necessary thing to do because the rest of the image will be blocked off by the vignetted borders.
step 2: you will want to get yourself a cardboard with a circle cut out in the center. you would want to cut out the circle in the way you want it to be seen on the final print. Usually a poorly cut circle will show if you don't cut it just right. On the other hand you could try to make a design out the border.
Step 3: When you have your cardboard you will want to see if your image fits in the area that you cut out. if you did it right you can just move the piece of card board a certain distance from the enlarger head to get the appropriate border size.
Step 4: Last but not least once you have your border you may proceed to making your print by placing the print into the easel and turning on your enlarger to the correct exposure that you want to display your image in and processing the print.
Method 2: (Black Borders)
If you would like to create a black border you need only to put a border onto the lens of your camera. once your see what is that you want to vignette all you need to do is place a piece of cardboard between the subject and the lens. when this is done you need only to develop and process the print normally and you will have your black border.

History Of photographyDodging and burningFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaDodging and burning are terms used in photography for a technique used during the printing process to manipulate the exposure of a selected area(s) on a photographic print, deviating from the rest of the image's exposure. Dodging decreases the exposure for areas of the print that the photographer wishes to be lighter, while burning increases the exposure to areas of the print that should be darker.
Any material with varying degrees of opacity may be used, as preferred, to cover and/or obscure the desired area for burning or dodging. One may use a transparency with text, designs, patterns, a stencil, or a completely opaque material shaped according to the desired area of burning/dodging.
Ansel Adams elevated dodging and burning to an art form. Many of his famous prints were manipulated in the darkroom with these two techniques. Adams wrote a comprehensive book on this very topic called The Print.
Many modern digital imaging programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Apple Aperture have "dodge" and "burn" tools that mimic the effect on digital images.
By using completely opaque material as a cover over the preferred area for dodging or burning, absolutely no light will pass through and as a result, an outline of the material may be visible on the print. One way to prevent obvious cover-up lines is to slightly shake the burning material over the covered area while it is being exposed. Another way to prevent obvious cover-up lines is to use slightly less opaque material closer to the outline to produce a more subtle, faded effect.
